Portfolio & projects

Systems built for real institutions and the people who run them — restaurants, parishes, a state assembly, a members' club, a family — mostly on Next.js, Supabase and Expo, mostly for communities across Nigeria and its diaspora.

The platforms with a full stack behind them

Real users, real data, and systems that have to keep working after launch. Each one records what was broken before it, and what changed once it shipped.

LiveWeb platform

Jagabans

Ordering, loyalty and kitchen operations for a Nigerian restaurant in LA

Online ordering site, rewards app and kitchen-floor system for a Los Angeles Nigerian restaurant, running on its own backend. Its kitchen works from an Android order management terminal (OMT) shared with sister restaurant The Peppered Goat — built once, running at both locations. Handles live order routing, Square and Stripe payments, Uber Direct and DoorDash dispatch, gift cards, referrals, and loyalty redemptions.

Before

Two restaurants taking orders through third-party platforms — paying a commission on every ticket, working to someone else’s ordering flow, and unable to shape the customer experience around how the kitchen actually runs.

After launch

A website and ordering app of their own. Customers order direct, payment clears through the restaurants’ own Square and Stripe accounts, and the kitchen works from an order terminal built around its own operations rather than a generic template.

What it was worth

  • Third-party platforms were taking about 30% of every order. On the direct channel that commission is gone — roughly a third of each ticket stays with the restaurant.
  • Operations are tailored to the business rather than the other way round — the ordering flow, the terminal and the rewards programme were built to how these kitchens work.
  • In-time support alongside the build: changes the business needed were developed as it asked for them, not queued for a release cycle.
  • One order-terminal codebase runs both restaurants, so the second location cost integration time rather than a second build.

The Peppered Goat

Ordering and loyalty for a Ghost Nigerian kitchen in LA

Ordering site, rewards app and backend for The Peppered Goat, sister restaurant to Jagabans under the same holding company. It runs on a backend of its own, separate from Jagabans, but its kitchen uses the same Android order management terminal (OMT) — one terminal codebase serving both brands.

Before

A ghost kitchen has no storefront to walk into, so it is only as visible as its ordering channel. Without one of its own, the brand existed inside delivery marketplaces taking about 30% of every order — paying a third of each ticket to reach customers it could not keep, and sharing a kitchen with a sister brand that ran a separate workflow.

After launch

The Peppered Goat has a direct ordering channel and rewards programme of its own, on a backend separate from Jagabans, while both kitchens work from the same Android terminal. Staff learn one system, not two.

What it was worth

  • Direct orders carry no marketplace commission, so the ~30% the platforms were taking stays with the kitchen.
  • A second brand launched on proven infrastructure instead of a second ground-up build — the terminal, dispatch and payment work was already paid for.
  • Shared kitchen hardware and one terminal interface means no retraining when staff cover both brands.
  • Brand-owned customer and order data, kept separate per brand for clean reporting.

Aboki & Co.

Invite-only membership club, from application to concierge

Runs the full member lifecycle — a paid application hold, an admin review queue, a Clerk-issued invitation, and a member portal with cellar tracking, concierge messaging, guest lists, and event reservations. Deliberately scoped: dues are tracked but not auto-charged, refunds are handled by hand. Restraint over feature-creep.

Legisl8 Pro

Legislative reference and admin platform for a state assembly

A civic-tech system for a Nigerian state house of assembly — an API serving laws, bills, and member records to a mobile app, behind authentication and role-based access control. It moved a hard-copy document archive to the cloud and tracks each bill’s status and dates. Its AI assistant runs full-text search over the bills database directly in Postgres, then hands the matched sections to an LLM to answer legislation questions in plain language.

Before

The laws of the State were a hard-copy document archive. Finding a law meant finding the paper, there was no reliable way to track a bill’s status or its dates, and access depended on physical proximity to the registry.

After launch

The archive is cloud-based, behind authentication and role-based access control, with bill status and dates tracked as data rather than institutional memory. The management team reaches the laws of the administration from a mobile app, and an AI assistant searches the bills database and answers in plain language.

What it was worth

  • Legislative lookup goes from a physical document request to a search — the laws are at the management team’s fingertips.
  • Status and dates are tracked in the system, so where a bill stands is a query rather than an enquiry.
  • Role-based access means the register can be opened up without losing control of who sees and changes what.
  • Answers are grounded in the matched sections themselves, so the assistant explains the law rather than paraphrasing from memory.

Web Portal

One event-registration platform, reused across three very different clients

Started as a minimal Flask registration portal and grew into a certificate-and-registration system. It ran the Curriculum Services Department of the Lagos State Ministry of Education's online sensitization webinar on the Unified Schemes of Work, then a run of church events, then Open Mic — a talk show for job seekers targeting Canada. The same platform reused rather than rebuilt each time: attendee sign-up, Zoom and calendar scheduling, S3-hosted PDF certificates with QR codes, and Paystack / Flutterwave payment links.

Before

The Curriculum Services Department needed to sensitize government teachers and private-sector stakeholders across Lagos State on the Unified Schemes of Work, and to certify everyone who attended. Conventionally that means printing certificates in bulk after the fact, then physically distributing them to participants scattered across the state — a cost and a delay before a single certificate reaches anyone.

After launch

Participants registered through the portal, which collected the attendance data the department needed for reporting. Certificates were auto-generated as PDFs and available to each participant the moment the event ended.

What it was worth

  • No certificates printed: the printing cost for the whole cohort was removed outright.
  • Delivery is instant and self-service, so nothing had to be distributed to participants across the state.
  • Participants have their certificate the same day rather than weeks later.
  • Registration data arrives structured and ready for the department’s reporting instead of being compiled by hand.
  • Reused rather than rebuilt: the same platform later took registrations and payments for Open Mic through Paystack and Flutterwave links, so a second and third event cost configuration rather than development.

Human Digital Resource App

A legacy desktop HR system, modernized in place and given an API

A 2021 Java Swing application that runs a state assembly's entire personnel operation — staff records, department postings and transfers, annual performance evaluations, payroll, ID cards, and a bills/laws register — against an on-premises SQL Server. In 2026, patched forward through a Java 21→25 migration and build a new Next.js admin frontend from the desktop client, and moved off a discontinued commercial reporting engine onto JasperReports. Staff biometric enrollment shifted from a fingerprint-reader SDK to webcam-and-QR-code check-in. Years of hand-edited nominal-roll spreadsheets get reconciled into the live database through a set of Python cleanup scripts.
